MBR

 

Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a wastewater treatment process that combines biological and membrane filtration. The most commonly used membrane materials are organic polymer membranes, especially polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).

 

• Basic Principle: MBR uses the permeability of water molecules in aqueous solution to treat wastewater. It uses a selective permeable membrane (with very fine pores) to filter out solid matter, bacteria, etc. produced when microorganisms decompose organic pollutants, and allows pure water to flow out.

 

 

 

1. High-quality Effluent: Its treated water has low turbidity and high levels of pathogen removal. The water can be used for applications such as landscape irrigation or industrial process water reuse.

 

2. Space Saving: MBR membranes allow higher concentrations of activated sludge, so only a smaller reactor volume is required to achieve the same treatment efficiency.

 

3. Sludge Management: MBR membranes retain most of the solid biomass when filtering water, resulting in higher sludge concentrations.
